“It is the individual efforts and collective contributions of the men and women of the union building trades that have helped make our region a superior place to live and work.”

The success of any construction project depends on a number of factors: careful planning, good materials, reasonable costs and solid management. Ultimately, however, it depends on a competent team of highly skilled workers, who are disciplined and trained to know what it takes to deliver excellence on any job site.
In the Pittsburgh area alone, there are more than 20,000 men and women who are professionally trained members of local building trade unions. They come from diverse backgrounds, represent different ethnic races, religions and cultures. They vary in ages, in physical stature and in goals and ambitions, but they all share one thin in common: a strong work ethic. They are hard working Americans who help build and rebuild this country on a daily basis. They are carpenters, cement masons, drywall finishers, electricians, ironworkers, laborers, operating engineers, plumbers, roofers, steamfitters and more. They are the men and women of the union building trades.
